Charles R. Bolz

Charles R. “Charlie” Bolz, age 69, of West Chester, PA, passed away on July 20, 2024. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Louise Bolz (nee Dennerlein).

Charlie graduated with his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College. After graduation, he spent his career first with Mobil Oil and then ExxonMobil. He was fortunate to have had opportunities to work on projects around the world which allowed him and his family to live in Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and England. He always enjoyed the challenging nature of his work throughout his long and successful career. 

Charlie always appreciated being outdoors in nature from a young age in the Boy Scouts and throughout his life hiking, canoeing, and fishing. He particularly enjoyed being in the Smoky Mountains with his family. Around the home, he was an avid woodworker building much of the furniture for the house and a gardener tending to the vegetable garden and the landscaping. Charlie always had a passion for reading and researching to expand his knowledge on a variety of topics. 

A cornerstone of Charlie's life was his family; they were his entire world. He was always very proud of his children and grandchildren. He dedicated his life to ensuring that his family would always be well provided and cared for.

Charlie was the beloved husband of Marilyn J. Bolz (nee Bier); loving father of Brian A. Bolz (Pam) and Kristen L. Lopatka (Andrew); adoring grandfather of Jack and Sadie Bolz; and caring brother of Brian J. Bolz.

Relatives and friends are invited to Charlie’s Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, July 25th at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
