Charles Lord, Sr.

July 8, 1928 — April 19, 2014

Charles W. Lord, Sr. of Broomall, PA, passed away on April 19, 2014. Born in Drexel Hill, he was the son of the late Frank and Ethel Grace Lord (nee Snyder).



He served in the United States Army. He was employed as a phone installer with Bell Telephone in Philadelphia for twenty years, retiring in 1984.



Charles was a volunteer at The American Red Cross and Salvation Army. He was a member of the Upper Darby Town Watch and Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of the Cardington-Stonehurst Fire Company with the 8th District Fire Police. He was also an Honorary Life Member of the 7th and 8th District Fire Police.



Charles was a member of the Collingdale First Church of Nazarene. He drove the church bus on Sundays for church members to attend services. He attended the annual Nazarene Camp Meeting in North East Maryland as an audio and visual technician.



He was the loving father of Charles W. Lord Jr., Timothy Lord and Edward Lord. He is also survived by his brother George Lord, and numerous nieces, nephews cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Vivian Janice Lord, his brother David Lord and his sister Grace Johnson.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday, April 24, 2014 7:00 - 9:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 and to his Funeral Service, Friday, April 25,2014 11:00AM at Collingdale First Church of Nazarene, 212 Mac Dade Blvd., Collingdale, PA 19023.

Internment will be held in Washington Crossing, Newtown, PA at a later date.
