Charles A. McCaffrey

Charles A. "Charlie" McCaffrey, age 81, of West Chester, PA, passed away on September 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. 

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1943, Charles was the son of the late Patrick and Regina (nee Ryan) McCaffrey. He was a graduate and proud alumni of St. Thomas More. Charles met his wife, Helen, in 6th grade and they were married for 54 years. They loved the Jersey shore and often spent time together at Shore Acres. 

Charles served honorably in the Army National Guard. He worked in construction as a carpenter and could help anyone fix anything. Charles was a great athlete and an avid Philadelphia sports fan. 

Charles had breakfast at the DK Diner nearly every day. He was joyful, hardworking, and generous. Many of Charles' friends were lifelong friends. For many years, he volunteered to play Santa at The Desmond Hotel and Chester County Hospital. Charles was a family man and he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandkids.

Charles was the beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Smith) McCaffrey; loving father of Andrew McCaffrey (Amy), Eileen Klapac (Scott), and Christopher McCaffrey (Stacey); caring grandfather of AJ, Matthew, Emily, Cece, Ellie, Lanie, Katie, Cooper, and Annie; dear brother of Nancy Annarelli (Dennis); predeceased by his siblings, Patrick, Gerald, Edward, Regina Weber, and James; also survived by many nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law Connie Drum (Pat).

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:30 AM-12:00 PM Saturday, September 28, 2024 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM. Interment private.
