Clare Cannon Breene, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born in Philadelphia, Clare attended Mount St. Joseph Academy and Chestnut Hill College where she captained the field hockey team. She started her career at Bell Telephone and retired from Main Line Health as Director of Telecommunications after 35 years of service.
Clare was the beloved wife of the late Peter Breene, Sr.; loving mother of Patricia Boylan (John), Ellen Weir (Don), Richard Pomfret, Jr., Peter Breene, Jr. and Jennifer Paynter (Wray); devoted grandmother of Michael (Scesny), Julie, Nathaniel, Kendall, Vivienne, Colette, Shawn (Mary), Patrick, Colin and Jack. She was predeceased by her siblings; Patricia Nelson and Paul Cannon.
Ever the optimist, Clare greeted all with a smile. She was a wonderful friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Everyone she talked to received her undivided attention, creating special moments of engaged conversation. Her guidance and kind words helped many when needed and her quick laugh spread the joy. Her energy was boundless, getting done what had to be done, be it planting beautiful flowers, getting her steps in, or making the prompt 5 o’clock Bloody. Summer meant time spent with family at the Jersey Shore, where we would come together, share laughter, and Clare would immerse herself in reading approximately 60 books a summer. Nothing made her happier than having the whole family together in Brigantine.
Always up for the next adventure, Clare will be missed as a delightful travel partner, friend, aunt, mom and especially Nanny.
