Clay (James) C. Stockton, 53, died suddenly February 8, 2016 at his Phoenixville home.
Mr. Stockton, a life-long resident of Chester County and local musician, was born in Philadelphia, but grew up in Lionville and then Honey Brook, where he attended Twin Valley High School.
He owned and operated James Painting for many years. Music was a source of great joy for Clay, who played the electric bass professionally in his early 20s with many local bands. He continued to play music with family and friends throughout his life. He was a generous and knowledgeable musician who loved to talk about, listen to and play music of all genres. Clay also had a great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh.
Predeceased by his parents, John and Polly Stockton, Clay is survived by brothers, William and Blair and sister Kate; also by step mother Terry and step siblings John and Jean. He was the uncle to Andrew, Dede, Sarah, Melissa and Emily.
A memorial service to celebrate Clay's life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 121 Church St, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Saturday, February 27 beginning at 11:00AM. Music friends are encouraged to bring their instruments to play and sing along if they would like.
