Clifford Owens, Jr.

October 29, 1925 — September 22, 2015

Clifford Wayne Owens, 89, was accepted into the eternal grace of the Father on September 22, 2015.



A native of Kansas City, Cliff was a graduate of Central High School in that city and continued his academic career with a civil engineering degree awarded by Purdue University. He received post-graduate engineering certification from Johns Hopkins University and attended the Harvard Business School for Advanced Management Training. Upon graduation from Purdue Cliff began his career at the Pennsylvania Railroad in Toledo, Ohio working his way through the Engineering Department.



During this time he was asked to serve our country as a member of the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He returned from active duty to a long and successful career in the railroad industry as a junior manager in the engineering department of the Pennsylvania Railroad.



Cliff continued his career at Penn Central and then on to Conrail holding various positions in the Transportation Department. In 1981 he was appointed Senior Vice President for Engineering and Staff at Consolidated Rail Corporation in Philadelphia. After forty six years Cliff and his wife retired in 1991 to their home in West Chester, PA.



Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Margarite Owens, and two brothers, Don and Bob.



He is survived by the first love in his temporal life, his wife of 68 years, Shirley; their seven children -- David (Betty), Tom (Erin), Jamie (Veronica), Mark (Cheryl), Alexis (Alan Roe), Jeff (Carmela) and Andrea (Doug McDaniels); 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
