Clyde Olver

Clyde Gilbert Olver, 93, passed away at his home on September 1, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Beach Lake, PA in 1921, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Mabel Olver. He was predeceased by his sisters Grace and Vera, and brother Floyd.
Clyde served honorably in WWII in the Army 34th Infantry Division in North Africa and Italy where he was injured and awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
After the war he married the late Marguerite Irwin in 1945. They were married 47 years until her death in 1993 and were the parents of Tracee and Tod Olver.
He is survived by Carol his second wife of 17 years, his children Tracee (Ruth) and Tod (Dori) and stepchildren Sandy (John), Brian (Cathy), and Kevin (Karen). He is lovingly known as Poppie to Joshua (Melody), Jeremiah (Jess), Nathan (Nikki), Caleb, Layne, Abigail, Natalia, Kristin, Kaitlin, Joey, Ashley, Michael, Ally, Jake, Tyler and Avery.
His family was very important to Clyde and he appreciated spending time with them.
Clyde started work for the FBI at the Washington DC Headquarters where he gave tours while earning his BS in Accounting at Ben Franklin College. He worked in the Baltimore, New York City and Philadelphia offices during his 30 year career with the Bureau.
After retiring from the FBI, he did some private detective work. His most notable investigation was the Holly Maddux and Ira Einhorn case. He was instrumental in discovering Holly's mummified body for which he was acknowledged in the book The Unicorn's Secret.
Clyde was active in Germonds Presbyterian Church while living in New City, New York, where he was a Deacon, Trustee, and Elder. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester, PA, for the past 37 years. He was a dedicated member of the Monday counting group as well as a member of the Retired Men's Group.
Clyde had a true green thumb and derived much pleasure from tending to his lawn and gardens. He spent most of his time doing all types of yard work. He nurtured little trees which grew randomly and replanted them throughout his yard along with all types of plants and flowers.
Family and friends are grateful we were able to celebrate Clyde's 93rd birthday with him in August.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:00 am Saturday September 6th at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA 19380 and to his Funeral Service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Westminster Church or Serving at the Crossroads 306 Hampton, Media PA 19063.
