He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Marianne Frawley, his son, Ronald and his wife Saundra of Concord, NC, his son Thomas and his wife Patricia of Berwyn, PA, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and seven nieces and nephews.
Cornelius "Connie" Frawley was born January 31, 1921 in Harlem, New York City. His parents, William and Emily (nee Crowley) Frawley had emigrated from County Claire, Ireland circa 1900. He participated in the Marianas Islands Campaign in the Pacific Theater, including amphibious landings on Saipan and Tinian. While on Tinian, he observed the unloading of the first atomic bomb from the cruiser Indianapolis, and guarded the bomb the night before its fateful journey to Japan on board the B-29 Enola Gay. He shot Expert while in boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and based on this and his exceptional swimming ability, was invited to become a Drill Instructor, an honor which he declined so that he could stay with his comrades in arms going overseas.
Connie Frawley served in New York City Police Department 1949-1984, and was decorated on multiple occasions. His first post was Grant's Tomb, and he spent time in precincts on the West Side, Spanish Harlem, the Bronx, and Central Park, retiring from the park (aka "Frawley's Turf") after almost 35 years of service.
