Daniel T. Erhard, MD, age 98, of Newtown Square, passed away on August 23, 2023.
Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late John F. and Ruth A. (née Hower) Erhard.
Dr. Erhard enlisted in the US Navy and became a Corspman during World War II, serving his country honorably.
After graduating from Jefferson Medical College, he became the first family practitioner in the town of Levittown in the early 1950’s. He then went on to complete his residency for Anesthesia at Temple University Hospital and finished his career in healthcare at Lankenau Hospital in the Anesthesiology Department.
In his pastime, Daniel also loved cooking and playing bridge.
Daniel shared a 30 plus year marriage with his first wife, Joan F. (née Ferguson), until her untimely passing in 1985. Together they raised nine children. He was the beloved husband of Carleen E. (née Keers) Erhard for the past 30 years; the loving father and step-father of Steven Erhard (Diane), Frank Erhard (Donna), Beth Holden, (Carl), David Erhard, Michael Erhard (Lynn), Joanne Erhard, Tricia Quarles, Robert Artman (Beth Matlowski), Karen (Artman) Murphy (Robert), and Kerri (Artman) Gerhart. He was the proud grandfather of Katherine Swann (Ato), Kristin Hansen (Dave), Kyle Erhard (Mindi), Matt Erhard (Angie Engleright), Amy Erhard, Emily Holden, Mason Holden (Madeleine Wood), Daniel Erhard, Alayna Erhard, Sophia Erhard, Eric Erhard, Rehannon Raley, Mick Quarles, Leigh Quarles, Kaelin Quarles, Cole Artman, Robert Artman, Gavin Kushinski, Marissa Matlowski, Carleen (Murphy) Alierdi, Rylan Murphy, Colby Gerhart and Olivia Gerhart. He was the caring great-grandfather of Olivia Swann, Eliza Swann, Steven-Jacob Swann, Ford Hansen, Brody Hansen, Layliana Erhard, Lennon Erhard, Calvin Erhard, Lola Erhard, Kalliope Nilles, Jake Alierdi and Lilly Alierdi. Dr. Erhard is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Sue Erhard. He is predeceased by his daughter, Karen, son, Tom, his brothers, John and Robert Erhard.
Services and interment will be held privately.
