Daniel Kenney, 71, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on November 28, 2020.
Daniel served honorably in the United States Army as a battle medic in Vietnam at the 93rd Evacuation Hospital and was in charge of the ICU when he wasn’t in helicopters. He received the Army commendation award and a flying award from Sikorksy for rescue and life-saving. When he came home, Daniel was stationed at Fort Lee where he was a member of Chesterfield Fire Company. After he was discharged from the Army, he was employed at Delaware County Hospital as a physical therapy technician. Daniel graduated from college and served as Chief and Fire Marshal of the Fire Brigade. He was then appointed by the Governor as the Emergency Management Coordinator for East Lansdowne. Daniel later worked for TV Guide for 18 years, and then as a security guard. He retired after suffering a stroke and moved to Drexel Hill. Daniel was a lifelong member of Upper Darby Company 3, Station 37, and a longtime volunteer at the Fireman's Hall Museum in Philadelphia.
Daniel was the beloved husband of JoAnne E. Kenney (nee Fignar); loving father of JoAnne Elizabeth Delaney (Andrew) and Kelly R. Fritz (Brian); caring grandfather of Emily, Nathan, and Erica; dear brother of Robert Kenney, Thomas Kenney, James Kenney, Nancy Freenock, Barbara Yiengst, and Ralph Kenney; predeceased by his father, Ralph Kenney; also survived by his step-mother, Elizabeth Kenney.
Services and interment are private.
