Daniel J. “Dan” McHenry, age 40, of Broomall, PA, sadly passed away suddenly on October 6, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a profound impact on all who knew him.
Born in Chester, PA, Dan was the beloved son of Kathleen A. “Kate” Getek McHenry and the late, Joseph J. “Joe” McHenry who died in 2016. Dan grew up in Prospect Park, PA and played Youth Club soccer and baseball, and on Interboro Soccer Club teams. He most recently resided in Broomall.
Dan was the oldest of Joe and Kate’s three children. He graduated from Interboro High School, Temple University, and the Penn State Great Valley MBA program. He was an avid reader and had a passion for learning, achieving certifications in Lean Six Sigma and Project Management. For the past 12 years he was a Quality Systems Specialist employed with Boeing in the Helicopter division.
From childhood, Dan professed to be obsessed with music his whole life, be it MTV Classic, VH1, his parent’s albums, cassettes/CDs or his own collection started in middle school. Music was always playing in the house, the car and in his head. In eighth grade when he got his first electric guitar and lessons a budding rock star was born. Dan was a member of multiple rock and emo groups from El Capitan, Ewe Too Rocks Me, Grandy and the Mouth Breathers playing the Bass guitar. Performing at various venues like the Trocadero, charity events, small parties or even outdoor BBQs, Dan and his bandmates always put on an entertaining show.
But most of all Dan was a family man. Like his father he wanted to participate in his children’s introduction to sports and was a volunteer coach for their baseball, softball and soccer teams with Marple Township Little League, Newtown Square Petticoat League, and Marple Newtown Soccer Association.
Dan was a loving and devoted husband to Jacqueline M. (née Monaghan), and their twins, daughter, Mae McHenry and son, Hogan McHenry. He was always a caring son to his mother, Kate, and a dedicated brother to his sisters, Rory Valerio (Michael) and Maura McHenry. Dan was a thoughtful son-in-law to his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Deborah Monaghan, who welcomed him into their family with open arms and hearts. Dan is also survived by his many loving nieces Tessa, Talia, Marin, Arden, Caroline, Emilia and nephew Harrison. He will be dearly missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and the Marple Newtown community.
