David H. von Berg, 80, affectionately known as Dave, "Pop" and "Scooter" went to Eternal Rest peacefully on May 20, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife and children.
He was born and raised in Philadelphia, where he met his beloved wife Theresa (nee Day). Dave was the loving father to his three children Mark (Cathi), Christian (Dawn) and Samantha Simpkins. Dave is the son of the late Robert and Katherine (nee Goganzer) von Berg, and brother to the late Robert von Berg, Jr. He is survived by his brother Kenneth (Sandra) von Berg. He was an amazing grandfather to his 6 grandchildren Zachary, Ashley, Alexandra, Nicole, Gavin and Alexa. He was a special man to his niece Tracy Cholminski (Eric). Dave was a man of many friends, too many to count. Dave was a veteran of the US Army.
Dave was a devoted and loving husband to Theresa. They shared so many wonderful life events and memories, from the births of their children, births of their grandchildren and over 50 years of marriage. He and Theresa loved creating new memories yearly especially at their favorite vacation spot Wildwood, NJ, often with his extended family and friends.
Dave was a fan of Philadelphia sports and teams. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, a passion he passed onto his children and shared with his wife. He had a favorite tradition of attending opening day with his family, yearly with Sam. His love for the Flyers was the catalyst for Mark's continual passion for hockey.
Dave had a knack for being quite the handyman, a skill that he shared and passed onto Christian. Dave will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family on Wednesday from 9:45 AM-11:45 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA. His Funeral Service will follow at Noon. Interment is private.
