David Fulton

d. May 7, 2017

David Cary Fulton, 50, of Downingtown, PA, suddenly passed away on May 7, 2017.

Born in Bristol, PA in 1967, he was the son of the late Judith A. (nee Wolfe) and Robert C. Fulton, Jr.

David was the beloved husband of Mary A. (nee Giltinan) Fulton; loving father of Ben L. Fulton, Cyle D. Fulton, Maya E. Fulton, Zackery T. Fulton, Alyssa J. Fulton, Tyler J. Fulton, Ciara M. Fulton, Audrey K. Fulton; dear brother of Patti Williams (Roger) and the late Matthew Fulton.

Husband, father, friend, comrade, leader, confidant, big spoon and all around one of the best. In the short life time of only 50 years, that is one substantial line up of his titles earned and embraced by so many. Along side of his children and wife, Dave's passion in life was the ownership and overall success of Birchview Farm Campground, Coatesville, PA. Here, he ran far more than simply a place where passionate tenters and campers pulled in to the woods to play for a weekend (although, that is an important part of it!). He ran a place where hundreds have called it a second home; their happy place; their escape from life; their place where they could hang up the car keys, pick up the golf cart keys, along side of a chilled drink, to embrace the time they've worked so hard for to be surrounded by their family. The place Dave created was not his backyard campground; not even close. He came in with his own family, planted his roots, applied his keen business sense, and the hypothetical tree began to grow. One by one, people pulled in for a weekend or signed up for a seaonsal site to give the camping lifestyle a try. Within a short period of time, everyone became part of the root system of this tree Dave planted, and we all became connected; we all became one.

Over the years we've shared delicious meals, embraced special holidays together, sipped sweet beverages (some a little more than others), worked together throughout the grounds, took a step back to relax on the porch and take it all in, hit a piñata in the lodge, smoked a pig, welcomed the birth of babies, got crafty in the pavilion, taken a midnight swim, sat by countless fires, fixed cars together, taken hundreds (thousands?) of golf cart rides around the park, danced to the DJ, enjoyed the sounds of a good band, sat in awe to stare at the Fourth of July fireworks, embraced each other during difficult times, and on, and on, and on.... the list of memories are endless. These traditions will continue however, with a massive hole right in the middle. This tree Dave planted has visible damage and an essential piece is missing. Just like the natural root system, they'll come together, re-nourish the tree, provide additional support, and eventually the tree will repair and continue to grow. The visible scaring however, will always be visible and felt.

In the words of Dave himself we aren't saying goodbye, we are saying "see ya later". He would typically take off on his golf cart to head back to the office after he would say this line but this time, he is just going on a bit of a longer drive. Birthdays, holidays, vacations, camping, family dinners, anniversaries, work days, Atlantic City, Baltimore, and beaches will never be the same. We know the lodge is calling and you must go so keep that fire in the sky going strong Dave, and we will keep it going down here for you. Until we meet again, see ya later...
