David Lee "Butch" Manderscheid, age 62, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on March 15, 2025.
Butch was born at Kaukauna Community Hospital in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, along with his twin sister, Donna, to the late David, Sr. and Ila Mae (nee Hopfensperger) Manderscheid. Growing up, Butch played baseball and basketball and was in the Boy Scouts during his grade school years. He enjoyed helping his dad work on the farm, baling hay and tending to the cows. He attended Kaukauna High School and moved out east in his twenties to work in underground construction with a friend. Butch welcomed his daughter, Taylor, into this world in 1995 and eventually created his own business, TMM Cable (his daughter's initials), and thrived in underground construction in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
In 1998, he met his wife, Jen, at Harron Cable, where they both worked. Butch struggled much of his adult life battling alcoholism. In 2001 he hit rock bottom, then went into recovery and made a fresh start. In 2002, he moved to Cochranville, Pennsylvania and later married Jen in 2005. After spending their honeymoon in Arizona, they enjoyed vacationing there for many years after. During their visits to Sedona, they made sure to visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross, where Butch would light a candle for his parents at each visit. In 2014, Butch retired his construction business and started a landscaping business, B&T Lawn Maintenance. In 2015, Butch and Jen moved to Coatesville, Pennsylvania, where they lived in a barn apartment and enjoyed the farm life. Butch managed three horse farms where he maintained the properties while Jen cared for the horses. Butch attended Freedom Life Church for several years, where he made many good friends and enjoyed their men's group and getting back into the spiritual world.
Growing up in Wisconsin, Butch loved the Green Bay Packers and knew every stat for the NFL if you asked him. He spent many nights talking with his daughter, Taylor, about their love for the same football team and what she did that day on the farm where she worked in Napa Valley, CA. Butch was known for his hard-working ethics and love of the outdoors. His laugh was contagious and loved by all who met him. After suffering several strokes in early 2024, Butch moved to a skilled nursing home, where he spread his love and smiles with visits from friends and family. Butch's last hours were very peaceful and surrounded by love.
Butch was the beloved husband of Jennifer Lynn (nee Terrey) Manderscheid; loving father of Taylor Marie Manderscheid; dear brother of Carmen Brandenburg (Glenn), Donna Nettekoven (Vince), and Gary Manderscheid (Jessica); caring uncle of Brett Brandenburg (Lisa), Angela Halbach (Scott), Jeremy Nettekoven (special friend, Misty), Ashley Echmeier (Michael), Michael Manderscheid, Parker Thomas (step-nephew), and Hailey Thomas (step-niece); also survived by 4 great-nieces, 3 great-nephews, and 1 great-great niece.
