Deacon Bill Shearer

Deacon Bill Shearer, age 78, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on December 27, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1945, he was the son of the late Charles William and Mary Elizabeth (nee Bradley) Shearer.

Bill was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Anna "Patsy" (nee Carbin) Shearer for 46 years; loving father of William Michael Shearer, wife Jennifer Shearer, and Linda Patricia Pulli, husband Michael Pulli, Jr.; caring grandfather of Christopher William Shearer, Samuel James Shearer, Sarah Elizabeth Pulli, Zachary Michael Pulli, and Sophia Grace Pulli; dear brother of Marie Therese (Terry) Goldman, MaryAnne (Sam) Faries, Christine Turick, Denise Shearer, and Rosemary Shearer; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews in the Carbin and Shearer families.

Bill attended St. Charles Seminary, Philadelphia and was ordained a Permanent Deacon June 11, 2011. He loved the Lord, reading the Bible, praying with others, preaching and ministering to all. Bill proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Keppler as a Weapons specialist.

Bill and Pat were both daily communicants and shared in their love of the Lord. They loved to travel and visited all the Baseball Stadiums in the US and Canada and enjoyed trips across Europe. Bill loved cars and enjoyed baseball card collecting as a lifetime hobby.

Bill was a little league baseball coach and served as an Upper Providence Township Council member. He was a member of the Saint James Alumni Choir. Bill loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 4:00-7:00 PM Friday, December 29, 2023 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382, and to his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday at SS Simon & Jude Church. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
