Dennis M. O'Connor, age 56 of Havertown, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2016.
Dennis was born October 13, 1959, the second of seven children of Dorothy O'Connor (nee Barnholt) and the late John J. O'Connor. He attended Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, and graduated from Upper Darby High School.
Dennis worked tirelessly at the Gaslight Pub and Gaffer's while earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Temple University. Dennis partnered with his brother John to open Kelliann's Bar and Grill at 16th and Spring Garden Streets in Philadelphia. His business acumen, work ethic, and personality made Kelliann's a success, both financially and in familial relationships formed with Dennis' customers.
It was at Kelliann's that Dennis met the love of his life, Susan Mackie. Dennis and Susan married and pursued other business opportunities, including Kelliann's Tavern at 44th and Spruce Streets, Tip O'Leary's in Havertown, and Bryn Mawr Beef and Ale. While Dennis' educational and business successes were great, there was nothing he was more proud of than his and Susan's two children, Kendra and Eamon. All of Dennis' customers, relatives, and friends often saw Dennis beaming with pride discussing his children and their latest activity or accomplishment.
In addition to operating Kelliann's and spending time with his family, Dennis enjoyed traveling, history and politics. Dennis was known in the community and family as a generous, supportive man, who would stop at nothing to help those in his family and community. He will be remembered as a good-natured but relentless teaser by his nieces, nephews and siblings.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Susan, their children Kendra and Eamon, his mother, Dorothy, his siblings John (Kelliann), Maureen (Stephen) Reilly, Danny (Zina), Kathleen (Paul) Kelley, Michael (Patti), and Kevin, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
