Diana Vivien Barringer (née Johnson) beloved mother, stepmother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend of many around the world, died peacefully in her home at the great age of 101 on Sunday, August 9, 2015.
Diana was born in Little Compton, Gloucestershire, England on January 18th, 1914. She was raised in England by her father, Raymond Johnson and mother, Lilian Eckstein with sister, Lilah and brother Michael, surrounded by grandmothers and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. She also had family in Ireland, Germany, South Africa and Kenya.
In 1937 she married Banning Richardson of Princeton, New Jersey and traveled with him to India where he taught in three Indian universities. There, they had three daughters. After Indian Independence in 1947 they returned to live in the UK until 1954 when they emigrated to Toronto, Canada.
In 1966 they divorced and in 1967 Diana married Brandon Barringer of Villanova, Pennsylvania who also had three daughters. They moved to Wayne, Pennsylvania in 1973 and lived there together until Brandon died in 1991, after which Diana continued to live in their home in Wayne, PA. until her death.
She is survived and much missed by daughters Rhea Richardson and Sarah Clarke, stepdaughters Carla Rabinowitz, Elizabeth Fentress and Felicity Taubman, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren who will always love and remember her for her consummate kindness and generosity, her concern and interest in family, friends, local, national and international affairs, and her love of nature, science and the arts.
In November, a memorial service will be held at St David's Episcopal Church, 760 Valley Forge Road, Wayne, Pennsylvania 19087.
