Dianne M. “Big Di” Thompson (Nee Medaglia), age 69, of Havertown, PA, passed away in her home surrounded by family on May 26, 2020. Born in Philadelphia on March 18, 1951 to Margaret (nee Madsen) and the late Albert Medaglia.
Dianne was the beloved wife of the late William A. Thompson; loving mother of Annemarie Thompson Lough (Sean); dear sister of Lawrence (Susan), Ronald, and Christopher Medaglia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Michele Thompson, and siblings Albert Medaglia, Jr. and Denise Bellocchio.
Dianne and her late husband owned Beverage Express, Inc. in Upper Darby, PA for almost 25 years. Dianne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The Thompson’s hosted many holiday meals, BBQ’s and parties; they were well known for their annual 4th of July BBQ fireworks display. Dianne and her family vacationed at the South Jersey shore for many years; she loved to be on the beach and by the water.
After retiring, Dianne loved to visit Atlantic City and she traveled on cruises and to other destinations with her daughter, Annemarie. She was a volunteer at Surrey Thrift store in Broomall, PA and at the St. Denis Fun Fair. She also adored spending time with Sean and Annemarie’s dog, Rita girl.
Dianne was known for greeting everyone with a “Hi-Dee-Ho” and she was also fondly called “Hollywood” by her family because she liked to wear big sunglasses.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Friday, June 5, 2020 from 12 PM to 1 PM at St. Denis Church, 2401 St. Denis Lane, Havertown, PA. A face covering is required while in the church. Due to COVID-19, a private family mass will follow at 1 PM. The mass will be livestreamed on the Saint Denis Church Facebook webpage, https://www.facebook.com/Saint-Denis-Church-1109742115732597/ . Internment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
