Dina Rita (nee Maggi) Reino, 99, of Thornton, PA, passed away on March 28, 2020.
Born in Cave, Italy in 1920, she was the daughter of the late Amedeo and Velia (nee Ricotti) Maggi.
Dina was the beloved wife of the late Michael D. Reino; loving mother of Mike Reino (Linda), Paul Reino (Christine), John Reino (Denise), and Thomas Reino (Jackie); adoring grandmother of Dominick, Aleandra, Victoria, Christopher, Thomas, Jr., David, and Brianna.
Dina loved going to Philadelphia to visit the Italian Market. Her favorite selection was sharp provolone cheese which she brought back for all the kids. Every year she would enjoy Cookie Day, an annual day of making cookies for the Christmas holiday, where she would make her famous pizzelles from the recipe passed on from her Grandmother.
As her sons were growing up, Mom enjoyed attending all of their sporting events, from hockey to softball. The Reinos were famous for hosting parties after the games where all would attend and enjoy her famous pizza and meatballs. She transferred that love to her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and hosting many sleepovers which made "Nonna" very popular with her grandkids!
Mom loved her dogs and is survived by her faithful companion Kingsley. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations to the Brandywine Valley SPCA.
Mom kept in constant communication with her relatives in Italy and visited a number of times throughout the years. Her dream, in her later years, was to visit her birth city of Cave one more time.
A lasting memory of Mom was being the life of the party for every event she attended, drawling a crowd with her stories and laughter. Her famous words in a moment of revelry were “Stick it in your ear!”
A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
