Dolores C. Gruber (nee Morrow), age 87, of Broomall, PA passed away on June 2, 2016.
Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Walter G. and Irene C. (nee Hochreiter) Morrow. Dolores was a 1946 graduate of J.W. Hallahan Girls Catholic High School. In September of 1950 she married Joseph H. Gruber and together they raised two sons, Joseph and Gerard. Dolores' beloved husband passed away on February 22, 2001.
Beginning in 1965 Dolores served as the organist for many Catholic Churches in the area, including St. Anastasia in Newtown Square, PA, St. Patrick's in Malvern, PA, Annunciation BVM in Havertown, PA and St. Pius X in Broomall, PA. She earned a music degree from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in the mid 1980's. Dolores also taught piano to numerous students, both privately and at St. Anastasia School.
Dolores is survived by her beloved sons Joseph Gruber (Esther) of Rosemont, PA and Gerard Gruber (Barbara) of Lawrence, KS. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Joseph, Catherine, Daniel, Jennifer, Eric and Leah and her great-grandson Benjamin.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 9:00 to 9:50 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dolores' memory to J.W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School, 311 N. 19th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103 would be appreciated.
