Dolores J. Parillo, a Christ-centered woman of warmth and hospitality, passed away at age 95 in her home in Holmes, PA.
Her years at Philadelphia Bible College (PCB, now Cairn University) were the happiest times of her life. At PCB, she flourished in her walk with Christ and loved to tell the story of her tenure there. Dolores also studied at Presbyterian School of Nursing in Newark, NJ and Johns Hopkins School of Mid-Wifery. She used her nursing skills and talent to bless others here and abroad.
Her love of the Gospel and missions led her to serve in Morocco from 1958-1976 with Arab World Ministries. Dolores was a Missionary Nurse/Midwife and ministered to many families, especially new mothers. For the rest of her life, Morocco and its people held a special place in her heart and life. Upon her return to PA she worked in the Obstetrics/Maternity department at Lankenau Hospital for 12 years, retiring in 1993.
But Dolores never really "retired" from doing good works. A long-time member of The Blue Church in Springfield, PA, her activities were numerous: Women's Bible Study, Growth Group, Missions' Committee Member, Vacation Bible School helper, Sunday morning greeter, prayer meeting participant, hostess to missionaries. She also hosted countless gatherings in her home serving delicious meals, sent folks home with gifts and encouraged her guests to draw close to Jesus. She was known and loved by her Blue Church family. Dolores had a mother’s heart toward the entire church body and missionaries which is a wonderful way to remember her.
Dolores is survived by her sister-in-law, Diane Neustrand of Springfield, VA. She was predeceased by her father Victor J. Parillo, her mother Elva (nee Seitz), and her brother Carl Neustrand.
Relatives and friends are invited to Dolores' Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday, November 2, 2024 at The Blue Church, 940 Baltimore Pike, Springfield, PA 19064.
