Dr. Donald G. Urban, 72, of Glenolden, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015. After graduating from Jefferson Medical College, Don served in the Vietnam War as a Battalion Surgeon First Marine Division in 1969, saving many lives. He received many medals for his valor as well. Continuing in the medical field, he served with the United States Naval Reserve, becoming a Commander in rank. He was an Emergency Room physician at Harrisburg Hospital. Later, he had his own family medical practice in Newville PA. On the way to the office one morning he suffered a stroke that required simultaneous heart and brain surgery. He recovered to serve as a Naval medical doctor at Quantico, VA. When his health declined he became a supervisor at the Veterans Administration in Clarksburg, WV. He moved to PA in 1994 where he was assisted by his church and family. From 2001 to 2015 he was in assisted living at the residence at Glen Riddle, Media PA. He had a short stay at Sunrise of Haverford as well. Don is survived by his brother Harry Urban, sister Lois Lubar, nephew Donald Lubar, niece Laura Urban Couchara, niece Rebecca Urban Weldon, and 5 great nieces and nephews.
