Donald Sharples

DONALD P. SHARPLES, 93, on November 30, 2015, of West Chester, PA.



Born in Archbald, PA in 1922, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Alice (Livsey) Sharples.



Donald served honorably in the US Marine Corps during World War II and participated in the Guadalcanal, Bougainville and Guam invasions. Following the War, he continued his 32 year career with the US Marine Corps as a Civilian Motor Transport Equipment Specialist. During this time he also worked as a self-employed Auto Mechanic in West Chester, PA and served as a member of the Automotive Service Association of Philadelphia. He later joined the Marple Newtown School District as a School Bus Mechanic and Driver until his retirement in 2005.



Donald was a founding member of SS Simon & Jude Parish and a long-time supporting member of the Goshen Fire Company.



Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carmela B. (Schiavello) Sharples.



He was the loving father of Patricia A. Haas (Andrew) of Philadelphia, PA and Donald P. Sharples (Kristin) Phoenixville, PA; loving grandfather of Andrew Haas, Ava Sharples and Logan Sharples. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.



Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday eve, December 6, 2015 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 W. Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000 and 10:00-10:50 AM Monday, December 7th at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Int. SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SS Simon & Jude at the above address.
