Donald Smallberger

Donald Smallberger, age 91, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on February 16, 2025. Born in Germantown, PA, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Ida Smallberger (nee Dahl).

Donald was the beloved husband of the late Joanne Rose Smallberger (nee Bauer); and previously late Gail Smallberger (nee Mulville). Loving father of Julia Loudis (John), Elizabeth Calderaro (Raymond), Thomas Smallberger, Patricia Koons, Karyn Goss, Joseph Smallberger, Brad Smallberger (Cortney), and the late Donald and Daniel Smallberger. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Donald held virtues of strength, dedication, and humility throughout his life. As a general contractor, he left an unforgettable mark on the communities and people he served, showcasing an unwavering commitment to hard work and meticulous attention to detail.

Donald was a proud Army veteran, having served during the Korean era in the 82nd Airborne. This allegiance to service reflected his character, which later emulated in his tireless work ethic and perseverance.

Donald’s passions included woodworking and renovations, as well as collecting antique treasures that bore witness to history. A car enthusiast, he held a particular affection for his cherished 1967 Mustang GTCS Coupe, a reflection of his appreciation for classic craftsmanship and design.

Donald took delight in his gardening, cooking and numerous family pets. A sports fan, Donald was a supporter of his hometown Philadelphia teams. 

Family and friends are invited to Donald’s Viewing 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Services at 12:30 PM. Interment Private. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donald’s name can be made to the Homeless Veterans or your local SPCA.
