Donald Allen Wambold, Jr.

Donald Allen Wambold, Jr., 74, of West Chester, PA passed away on April 8, 2025 at Blue Bell Place, Blue Bell PA surround by loving family and staff.

Born August 10, 1950, in Somers Point, NJ, he was a long term resident of West Chester PA. He was the eldest son of the late Iva Elizabeth (Hohl) and Donald Allen Wambold, Sr.

He earned a degree in Bachelor of Religious Education from Baptist Bible College in Clark Summit PA and worked for CALECO of West Chester for over 40 years until he retired.

He was a World War II and naval historian. He had many articles published in The Naval Institute's Proceedings, and Naval History: World War II, Aviation History, and the Daily Local News.

He was a member of the West Chester Men’s Club for over 21 years where he served as research coordinator for the Chester County Hall of Heroes.

He honored the “The Greatest Generation” by volunteering for over 21 years at the annual Reading World War II Weekend. He recently published a book “World War II Primer: Pacific Theatre Operations".

He was the beloved brother of Carolyn Kerns of Telford, PA and David Wambold of Virginia Beach, Virginia; adoring uncle of Roy Kerns presently working in Japan, Sarah Kerns, of New Jersey and Maxwell Wambold, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Family and friends are invited to his Visitation 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Wednesday April 23, 2025 followed by his Funeral Service 12:00 PM at the Donohue Funeral Home 1627, West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA.
