Doris Ker

October 11, 1929 — December 28, 2015

Doris J. Ker (McCarter) passed away on December 28th at the age of 86 from a long illness.



She was born in West Chester in 1929. She was the wife of Richard Smith (dec.1953) and married to Edward T. Ker (dec.1996) for forty-one years. Doris was a member Hopewell United Methodist Church.



Doris was a loving friend and mother who enjoyed playing cards with her friends and baking for her family. She loved animals and her most favorite companion after the death of husband Edward was Marley. Doris loved her family and was very proud of each and every one. It is a testament to her how they all have become fine loving and caring people. Doris had a very strong faith and she believed it is better to give than receive. She lived her life through her children, her faith and how she could help others. She was our mother, our friend and confidant

Doris was the counter manager for Clinique at the time of her retirement from Strawbridge and Clothier after working there for 35 years.



She is the mother of one son Richard Ker, wife Colleen, of Ocean City, NJ and five daughters Penny MacDowell, husband Ed of Kanab, Utah; Judy McWilliams, husband Warren, of Downingtown, Pa; Bonnie Smith (deceased 2014); Debbie Kirkpatrick, husband Charles, of Howell, Michigan; and Sharon Ker, husband John Harrer, of Frederick, Maryland.



She also has fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.



Her life is one of celebration, a legacy of family, faith, and love.



The funeral service will be 11:00 AM January 2, 2016 at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 852 Hopewell Rd, Downingtown, PA 19335 with interment and reception immediate following right at Hopewell.
