It is with both sorrow and gratitude for a well lived life that we announce the passing of Dorothy Atz (nee Bevan), a beloved mother, mom-mom, aunt, and friend, who peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on April 24th at the age of 89.
Born on May 18, 1935, at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. Dorothy was raised in Norwood, Pennsylvania, by her parents William H. and Margaretta (Schaffer) Bevan along with her beloved siblings William, Virginia (Evans) and Robert. She graduated from Glen-Nor High School in 1953. She went on to raise her children in Prospect Park. She then spent well over 30 years living in Milmont Park, before moving to Kennett Square five years ago.
Dorothy lived a life marked by unwavering faith and selfless devotion to those she loved. Her walk with God was the cornerstone of her life. She was a faithful servant and prayer warrior and dedicated member of St. Marks Luther Church in Ridley Park.
Dorothy had a heart for others. Her home was a haven for many, and her table always had a space. She had a quiet strength and offered steady support to many. Her friendships ran deep and were lifelong, rooted in mutual respect and heartfelt joy. She loved the beach and traveling with her husband, friends, and family. There wasn’t ever a dog she did not stop to pet.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving Husband of 42 years William Atz and her cherished son Randall Stillman. She is survived by her “boys” Roger Stillman Jr (Karen) and David Stillman (Rebecca) and stepchildren Debra Leflar (Rich-Predeceased), Donna Thomas (Gary- predeceased) John Atz (Sue), Thomas Atz (Bev), Rick Atz (Charlene). She will be missed by her grandchildren Leah Beiler (Robb), Rebekah Irwin (Nathan), Lisa Stillman, Daniel Stillman (Mikayla), Matthew Stillman (Maddison) and Noah Stillman, Tommy Atz, Andrew Atz, Daniel Atz, Chelsea Rae (Chris), Matthew Atz, Christopher Atz (predeceased), Gregory Thomas and Spencer Thomas, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews and their children. We will continue to be inspired by her example of grace, strength, and determination.
A service celebrating Dorothy’s life and faith will be held on May 1st at Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home – Morton 746 Kedron Ave, Morton, PA 19070 at 10:00. All who were touched by her kindness are welcome to attend and share in remembering her beautiful life.
