On September 7th, Dorothy Fetzer of Exton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
Dottie spent her life serving others as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and nurse.
Dottie grew up with her four siblings, parents and extended family in Altoona. She graduated from Altoona High School and Bryn Mawr nursing school. She worked at Bryn Mawr hospital prior to having her six children. She worked as a private nurse when her children were younger. In 1975, Dottie went to Montgomery County Vo-Tech to get recertified as a nurse and began working at Coatesville Hospital. In 1987, she and a dear friend left to help run the office of Doctor Robert L. Parsons D.O. Family Practice Associates for well over 20 years.
In her spare time, Dottie loved to swim, bike, read and walk. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and their dogs. She loved visiting her hometown of Altoona and spending time with her siblings and extended family. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She has been a longtime member of the SS Philip & James Catholic Church and loved attending mass. One of her proudest accomplishments was participating in the swimming leg of the SheRox Triathlon in Philadelphia when she was in her 70’s.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie Rinehart (Steve), William R. Fetzer (Ingrid), Earl G. Fetzer (Marianne), Andrew J. Fetzer (Hilary Simons), Julie Fetzer Bigelow (Cortland); grandchildren, Charlie Ciliberti, Michael Ciliberti, James Huff, Craig Sellers, Ericka Johnson, Lauren Dannecker, William R. Fetzer Jr., Cara Fetzer Marsh, Brandon Fetzer, Joseph Fetzer, Natalie Fetzer, Matthew Fetzer, Joshua Fetzer, Aubrey Fetzer, Sophie Miller, Phoebe Miller, Cortland Bigelow and Sean Bigelow; and great grandchildren, Finnegan Ciliberti, Pearl Ciliberti, Frances Ciliberti, Leo Ciliberti, Evie Ciliberti, James Huff Jr., Jesse Huff, Joel Huff, Julia Bashore, Abbigael Capobianchi, Janie Johnson, Elzie Johnson, Hannah Ryan, Presley Dannecker, Brooks Dannecker, Julian Fetzer, Ryder Fetzer and Sonny Fetzer; and her brother, David Young.
Dottie was predeceased by her daughter Earlene Anne; her beloved husband Earl; her dear great- granddaughter Liliana; and her siblings Richard Young, Patrick Young and William Young.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:30-10:30 AM Tuesday, September 17, 2024 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at Sts. Philip & James Church, 723 E. Lincoln Hwy, Exton, PA 19341. Int. Calvary Cemetery.
