Dorothy Fitzgerald

Dorothy Marie Fitzgerald, 97, of Downingtown, PA, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2020.

Dorothy was born on August 20, 1923 in Montclair, NJ, to Stanley Ray and Florence Francis (nee Hayes) Bogart.

Dorothy enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, creating flower arrangements, sewing, and traveling. She could always be found around the card table playing a game of bridge or pinochle, or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Downingtown, PA. ,where she was member of the parish for the last eight years.

An avid church goer, Dorothy attended daily mass at either Saints Peter and Paul Parish, in West Chester, PA or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Downingtown, PA, where she was a member of the parish for the last eight years. She was an active supporter of the priests at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary and Padre Pio Shrine in Barto, PA. Dorothy also spent time supporting families with loved ones with Alzheimer’s at the VA Hospital in Coatesville, PA.

Dorothy was a loving mother and was passionate about spending time with her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin M. Fitzgerald; loving mother of nine children, Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald, JoAnn Carlin (James), Edwin S. Fitzgerald (Janet), Thomas P. Fitzgerald, Robert M. Fitzgerald (Terry), Marguerite Smith (Tony), Patrice Daniel (Bruce), and Dorothy Leach (Brian), and the late Mary Ellen Reckard (the late Charles). Dorothy is also survived by her thirty one grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Lorraine Miscia (the late Joseph) and Edward Bogart (Mary Pat).

Services will be private.
