Douglas Richard Goeckel

Douglas Richard Goeckel, age 67, of Havertown, PA, passed away on January 4, 2025. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late William and Sarah Goeckel (nee MacIver). Doug was a bright soul that walked into the room and made everyone smile.

He was always the life of the party from his Hawaiian shirts to goofy dance moves Doug knew how to have a good time. He was a generous man taking time to help those around him. His wife Candice provided the two joys of his life, his twin children, William and Sarah. Doug was always a big part of his community. He was a dedicated hockey coach for both his children and continued to coach long after his children had grown up. Doug was a board member for the Haverford Hawks and part of the board at Laura Simms ice hockey rink. He recently became a member of the Delco Anglers stocking fish in Delaware County. He would continue to travel up to Wolfe Island and Crystal Beach throughout his life introducing his family to his friends throughout the years. Doug worked at USAirways for over two decades and made lifelong friends, he was still active in going to reunions. His son, William continues his hockey legacy still playing with his Dougs friends to this day. Doug cared deeply for his family. He worked hard to become an electrician going back to school to provide for his family, from starting his own business, working at apartment complexes, and finishing strong with Westover Companies, before retiring. Doug spent his last summer up in Crystal Beach doing the things he loved. He reconnected with old friends and attended events all while making sure to tell his children all about the awesome live music and how much fun he was having. Doug may have been growing older, but he never lost his ability to have fun. He was the greatest guy anyone could have encountered. We love you Dad.

Douglas was the husband of Candice Goeckel (nee Bailey); loving father of Sarah Goeckel and William Goeckel; caring brother of Ellen Ortu, Kenny and Roger Goeckel.

Services and Interment are Private. On 03/13 there will be a party in Havertown, PA and on 03/16 there will be a party in Cheektowaga, NY. We will be organizing RSVP’s shortly.
