Dr. Steven D. Cytrynowicz, 49, of Berwyn PA, passed away in his home during the early hours of August 25, 2018 due to complications of a prolonged illness.
Growing up in the Philadelphia area, Steve played the trumpet and rose to the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. While at the Upper Moreland Sr. High School he was a member of the track team and marching band. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from The Pennsylvania State University, where he was a member of the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society and then went on to earn his medical degree from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Steve was a proud member of the United States Armed Forces, serving in the US Air Force Medical Reserve as a 2nd Lieutenant.
Professionally, Steve spent the early years of his career in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area before moving back to the Philadelphia area in 2011. Through his career he held both clinical roles as a practicing physician and medical business and leadership roles in health care organizations, often simultaneously. Notably, he was the Chief of Professional Services at the Saint Paul Clinic and a technical expert with electronic medical records systems. Steve was the Principal Physician Consultant at Siemens Medical Solutions.
Most recently he was a practicing Internal Medicine Physician with Main Line Health.
Steve loved music and the outdoors.
He especially cherished his time sculling on the Mississippi with the Minnesota Boat Club & on the Schuylkill with the Upper Merion Boat Club. He was an avid bonsai artist and enthusiast, at times cultivating more than 150 specimens.
He won multiple awards for his trees.
Steve is survived by far too many, including his loving wife Laura Mills and two sons, Peter George and Matthew John. He also is survived by his father Daniel Cytrynowicz and his 5 siblings Linda (Jim), Janet (Dave), Connie (Jim), Karl (Holly), and Eric (Jenny) and their children Halina, Alissa, Bill, Dan, Charlie, Chris, and Nikita. Steve was preceded in death by his mother Leah.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on October 27th, at 1:00 PM, at the Church of the Good Samaritan, 212 W Lancaster Avenue, in Paoli. Reception with light refreshments to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mills-Cytrynowicz Family to offset extensive medical expenses.
