Dr. Linda Chih-Ling Koo, age 72, of Chadds Ford, PA, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024.
Born in Bangkok, Thailand, on 12 February 1952, she was the daughter of the late Teh Chang Koo and Chris Chu Koo; granddaughter of Dr. Wellington Koo, a world-renowned Chinese diplomat; and great granddaughter of Tang Shaoyi, the first Premier of the Republic of China. She had a long career as an epidemiologist after receiving undergraduate, masters, and PhD (1976 in Medical Anthropology) degrees from University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Koo’s accomplishments as a faculty member in the Department of Community Medicine at the University of Hong Kong included a sole-author book on Chinese medicine (Nourishment of Life - 1982) and numerous scientific papers related to non-smoking causes of lung cancer among Chinese women. She later joined the research staff at AstraZeneca before retiring.
Linda was the beloved wife of the late film director, Tun-Fei Mou. Among surviving family, she is the sister of David C. Koo (Anna Hackenbracht) and Norman C. Koo (Yang Yue); stepdaughter of Joanna Koo; and half-sister of Katherine C. Koo, Sharreen Azevedo, Irene Koo, and Jimmy Koo.
Her interment was next to her husband at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY.
