Dr. Peter D. Ganime, M.D., age 84, of Gulph Mills, PA, passed away on September 11, 2024. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Maria (nee Felicetti) and Peter Ganime.
Peter was the beloved husband of Regina A. Ganime (nee Sesso); loving father of Anne Marie Smirga (John R.), Charles David Ganime, D.P.M. (Bonnie), Gina Louise Taddeo (Frank J.), Kathryn J. Ganime-Leech (John), Anthony N. Ganime (Jennifer), and the late Peter Daniel Ganime (Ellen); adoring grandfather of Jessica, Luke, Benjamin, Charlotte, Avalon, Arthur, Sabrina, Brinley, and Nicholas. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Marian “Nina” Abell.
Peter was a devoted husband who met Regina while she was performing in the musical “Oliver”. He loved music and theater and they hit it off, married and had six children which kept them very busy with memorable family parties and celebrations. He will be remembered having his camera out to take pictures in order to document every precious moment of his beautiful family’s journey through life. Pete was an avid traveler, who brought his wife, children and grandchildren to many countries throughout his lifetime, which they all are so very grateful to him for doing. He loved cooking, and enjoyed making homemade pasta dishes and stuffed olives from his ancestral home town of Ascoli Piceno. Being very generous, he often took his family and friends out to dinner or lunch in return only for “big smiles” and lovely conversation. He was a brilliant man who excelled in school and became a leader in his field of Child Psychiatry, publishing many articles and presenting at many Psychiatric conferences. He was a veteran who served in the US Army during the Vietnam War at Fort Campbell, KY, working in the Army hospital and earning awards and accolades for his service, of which he was very proud. He was witty and funny and always had a story to tell with a theatrical flair. He loved to dance, and laugh, and sing, and the fervor for life he exuded will be so very missed. He loved and was loved, and will forever be in the hearts of his family and friends who are confident that he is enjoying his eternal reward in Heaven.
