Dr. Thomas F. Rooney, Jr., age 72, of Drexel Hill, PA passed away on July 12, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Susan S. Rooney (nee Smith). Loving father of Thomas F. Rooney, III (DaVonne R. Armstrong) and Jonathan J. Rooney (Stephanie). Grandfather of Declan Rooney. Brother of Mary Jo Hitz (George). Thomas was predeceased by his parents Thomas F. Rooney, Sr. and Josepha A. Rooney (nee Meehan).
Dr. Rooney was a 50 year educator for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Villanova University, Immaculata University and Cabrini University.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Sunday, July 16, 2017 6:00-8:00 PM and Monday, July 17, 2017 8:45-9:45 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM St. Bernadette Church, 1035 Turner Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Catholic Charities Foundation of Greater Philadelphia, 100 N. 20th Street, Suite 301, Philadelphia, PA 19103 would be appreciated.
