Dr. Twining F. Campbell, 90, died on January 21, 2021. He was the son of Twining F. Campbell, Sr., a grocer in Wayne NJ, and Edna Warner Campbell. A grandson of immigrants, he was the first member of his family to graduate from high school, or college.
After graduating from Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Dr. Campbell spent his entire medical career serving hospitals in the Philadelphia area, first at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, and for over 30 years at Sacred Heart Hospital in Norristown, where he was Chief of Anesthesia, served a term as President of the Medical Staff, and was a recognized expert in spinal anesthesia.
Dr. Campbell was a lifelong art collector, and had an extensive collection of rare Americana, all of which he eventually donated to several area colleges. He was also a talented gem enthusiast, and a collector of rare minerals, passions which took him to the Tucson Gem Show every year for over thirty years. In retirement he spent entire winters in Tucson, in part to enjoy the Gem Show, but also to enjoy the beauty of the Southwest.
For over 60 years he was a faithful member and benefactor of the Wayne Presbyterian Church, where he was a Deacon, and where he and his late wife Gloria B. Campbell raised all of their six children, two of whom became Presbyterian pastors.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Gloria, and by his daughter Julia A. Campbell. He is survived by his wife Deanna B. Campbell of Rosemont, PA, and by his children: The Rev. Dr. Twining F. Campbell, III (Martha) of Pasadena, CA; Dr. David C. Campbell (Ellen) of Springfield, VA; Mrs. Susan J. Brzezanski (Henry) of Walkersville, MD; Mr. Paul M. Campbell (Ann) of Malvern, PA; and Mr. Lincoln B. Campbell of Pottstown, PA. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service and Interment will be held at a later date.
