Edward P. Reavy, age 89, of Springfield, PA passed away on April 24, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Edward Vincent Reavy of Maudabawn, County Cavan, Ireland and Delia Morley Reavy of Auchtaboy, County Mayo, Ireland.
Ed was selected as a member of the Philadelphia All-Catholic Football Team as a senior in 1945. Upon graduation from St. Thomas More High School, he joined the United States Army, where he served with honor in the European Theatre for two years.
He is remembered by the Irish community as a great Ceili dancer. He was a leader in reviving this popular style of Irish social dance from 1970 to the present. Many of the teachers who spread this great entertainment were taught by Ed as a member of the Crossroads Ceili Irish Dancers. His great dancing style captured the imagination of all who knew and loved him.

a talented performer, an engaging leader, and a devoted advocate of his father's music. No one worked harder to spread his father's original tunes in many Irish communities.
Ed made seventeen trips to Ireland in the last forty years to stimulate interest in his Dad's legacy.
He was a vital contributor to the millennium decision by the New York Irish Echo newspaper in 2000 where his Dad was chosen as the outstanding composer of traditional Irish music in the twentieth century.
Edward was the beloved husband of Mary C. Reavy (nee McGoff) and the loving father of Edward P. Reavy (the late Linda) and Erin E. Fredericks (Michael). He was the dear brother of Joseph Reavy, George Reavy (Pat) and Eileen Carr. He is also survived by his grandchildren Thomas and Cara Fredericks and Colleen Reavy Karpinski (Mark) and Kevin Reavy; his great-grandchildren Emma and Alexander Karpinski, his step-grandchildren Lauren Ashley, Gavin, Brian, Austin and Dalton Coigne and Matthew, Maureen, Patrick and Maeve Dale and his step-great-grandchildren Catherine, Cailin, Patrick and Caroline Ashley.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday, April 28, 2015, 10:00 AM-11:50 AM St. Kevin Church, 200 W. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
