Eileen M. Collins, born on February 18, 1922, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. A devoted homemaker and cherished member of her community, Eileen was a lifelong Catholic who attended St. Dorothy's Church daily, finding strength and solace in her faith.
Eileen had a zest for life that was evident in her many passions. She loved shopping at Macy's for the best deals and enjoyed indulging in her favorite foods, including crab cakes, lobster, and rum raisin ice cream. Known affectionately as “Eil” to her friends and family, she was never one to shy away from an adventure; she famously visited Cuba right after high school and embraced modern technology by acquiring her first iPhone at the age of 95, determined to learn how to navigate it.
Her remarkable spirit was matched by her independence; Eileen drove until she was 100 years old and enjoyed her centenarian years with a youthful vigor. A true fan of sports, she closely followed the Eagles and Phillies, and found joy in watching her favorite TV shows, including “Virgin River” and “The Crown”. Eileen's love for cinema was reflected in her fondness for classics like “Gone with the Wind”.
Family was Eileen's greatest pride. She is survived by her children, Shawn Collins and his wife Beth O’Donnell, Maureen Collins Lacey and her husband Rick Lacey, Carolyn Collins Couillard and her husband Al Couillard and Sharon McNamee who were her proudest accomplishments, and her beloved grandchildren, Johnathan McNamee and Shannon Lacey. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Jack, and cherished their time together. Eileen’s favorite places included Hawaii, Ireland, and Ocean City, but her heart always belonged to her home.
An embodiment of patience and resilience, Eileen’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
In Lieu of flowers, donation's in Eileen's memory to St. Dorothy School, 1225 Burmont Rd., Drexel Hill, PA. 19026 would be appreciated.
