Eileen N. Plociennik

On April 21, 2024, the world bid farewell to a remarkable soul, Eileen N. Plociennik. Eileen led a life adorned with knowledge and surrounded by the literary treasures she so cherished as a Desk Librarian at Bala Cynwyd Library, a vocation she came to later in life. She was born on January 23, 1945, in Norristown, PA, to her loving parents, the late Lawrence J. Norris Sr. and Loretta V. (Gunson) Norris. A lifelong resident of Bala Cynwyd, Eileen was a faithful and active member of St. Matthias parish for over 75 years. The youngest of four children, she was predeceased by her siblings: Ann Fry, Mary Elizabeth Voronkov and Lawrence J. Norris Jr.

Throughout her time at the library, Eileen touched the lives of countless individuals with her passion for books and dedication to helping others discover the joy of reading. Her gentle demeanor and unwavering commitment to her work made her a beloved figure in the community. In addition to her great love of literature and intellectual pursuits, Eileen also enjoyed drawing and gardening and was an ardent lover of all animals. 

For 56 years, Eileen was the cherished wife and partner of the late Godfryd Plociennik, whose memory she carried in her heart with unwavering love and devotion. Eileen and Godfryd partnered in many things in life including successfully building a small business from the ground up. She is survived by her children, Gregory Plociennik (Nancy) and Christine Conners (Tim), who will always hold dear the lessons of life their mother imparted upon them, especially the virtue of kindness to all. In addition to her children, Eileen also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
