Eleanor N. Ames

Eleanor N. Ames "Onie", 99, of West Brandywine, PA, passed away April 5, 2023.

Born August 25, 1923 in Voganville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Paul L. and Anna M. (Pierce) Nelms.

She graduated from New Holland High School and received her Nursing degree from Temple University. She worked for many years at the VA Hospital in Coatesville, but always said that her best job was being a mother.

She was an accomplished seamstress: dresses, suits, dolls, stuffed toys,  beautiful quilts and pillows that we still enjoy!  She was never without her camera and loved using it to capture the beauty at Longwood Gardens which was her sanctuary. Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as "Paparazzi Mom-Mom."

Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Ames; loving mother of Louise Glenn and Janet Ames Kolb; adoring grandmother of Erin Benner Santiago, Megan Benner, and Elizabeth Kolb. She was predeceased by her son, Douglas A. Ames and her brothers: Robert,  Harold, Donald, and James Nelms and her sister Helen Vilaro.

Services and burial are private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
