Eleanor K. (nee Ryan) O’Brien, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022, surrounded by her family at the Rose Hill Assisting Living in Robbinsville, NJ.
She was born November 7, 1932, At Misericordiae Hospital in Philadelphia, to Andrew Kemper and Dorothy Bertylle (McCormick) Ryan.
She graduated from Mater Misericordiae Academy, now called Merion Mercy Academy, in Merion, PA, in 1950, and earned her BA from Immaculata College in 1954.
She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Bradley V., their son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Vita (Bradley). She is survived by her children, Duffy, Brad (Frances), Ellie (Vince Calcagno), Danny (Ulrike), Matthew (Rosemary); and 13 loving grandchildren: Michael (m. Christine), Patrick (m. Carmina), Christopher, Matthew, Steven, Meghan, Michael, Kieran, Matthew, Caroline, Colin, Rosemary and Eleanor. Ellie grew up in Wynnewood, PA, and moved to Bala Cynwyd, PA; Milwaukee, WI; Franklin Lakes, NJ; Villanova, PA, and finally Robbinsville.
Living life to the fullest, Ellie enjoyed travelling the world, be it with her husband, the Father Seratelli-MBS crew, or with family. For many years, she was hostess for Villanova basketball dinners, and as an Irish lass, she made a great lasagna! Aside from shopping, a favorite activity was spending time with and attending to her active grandchildren with their many endeavors and activities.
Relative and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:00-9:45 AM Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Road, Gladwyne, PA 19035, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
