Eleanor “El” Cocco (nee Carafa), age 89, of Broomall, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2020.
Born in Rizzacorno, in the Province of Chieti, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Sabatino and Antonietta (nee Rulli) Carafa.
Eleanor came to the United States with her mother at the tender age of seven.
She lived in West Philadelphia and was a graduate of Overbrook High School, Class of 1948. She went on to become a secretary for the Fine Arts Silver Company in Philadelphia. Eleanor married the boy next door in 1953 after his return from the Korean War. They relocated to a home they built in Broomall and raised three children there. Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and picked up several other hobbies through the years. She was also a faithful member of St. Anastasia Church in Newtown Square.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Henry Cocco; the loving mother of Barbara Kelly (Charles), Robert Cocco (Jennifer) and Nora Breitmayer (Christopher). She was the cherished grandmother of Stephanie, Abigail, Nicholas, Thomas, Roberta and Sydney.
Services and interment are private due to the Coronavirus Epidemic. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
