Betty was predeceased by her parents Eugene John Dowd, Sr. and Iva Helen (Cole) Dowd, as well as sister-in law Lorraine Susan (Street) Dowd.
In 1964 she graduated from Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. For many years she worked for McCauley Convent in Merion Station, Pennsylvania.
Betty enjoyed Country and Western music, camping and summers with her family in Kennebunk, Maine.
She is survived by 2 brothers; Eugene "Chuck" Dowd, Jr. and Donald (Deborah) Dowd, 4 sisters: Mary Ann Kusner, Joan (Stanley, Sr.) Paprzycki, Susan (Stuart) Ettingoff, and Catherine (Paul) Broderick. In addition, Uncle David Cole of W. Kennebunk, Maine, Aunt Katherine Ames and Aunt Stephanie Cole of Kennebunk, Maine, as well as 7 nephews, 6 nieces, 4 great nephews, 8 great nieces, and numerous cousins in Pennsylvania and Maine.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 22, 2017, 11 AM at Saint Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Road, Media, Pennsylvania.
The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, Pennsylvania have made arrangements.
