Elizabeth Anne Maggio, a beacon of strength and an embodiment of compassion, passed away on March 12, 2024, after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer. Born in Amherst, NY, on February 15, 1961, Beth was the eldest of five girls, whose early life was marked by a close-knit family, music, and sports. Her talent in playing the guitar, alongside her sisters’ singing, brought joy to many gatherings.
Beth graduated as a Political Science major from the University of Michigan, in 1983. Her journey continued as she carved a significant path in Charitable Contributions holding senior roles in esteemed organizations like Fidelity Comcast and National Philanthropic Trust. Beth also devoted her time and leadership skills as President of the Junior League of Philadelphia. She also had many wonderful memories spent in Marblehead, MA and Wayne, PA,
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Beth’s heart was always with her family. She cherished every moment spent celebrating life’s milestones with her nieces and nephews. A die-hard University of Michigan football fan, she donned her Michigan gear with pride and never missed an opportunity to support her team. Beth’s love for travel brought her and her friends countless memories filled with laughter and adventure.
Beth also shared a profound love for Andrea Bocelli’s music, a passion she inherited from her father. This connection to music continued to bring her comfort and joy throughout her life.
Beth’s battle with cancer demonstrated her indomitable spirit. Deemed a “hero” and “miracle” by her medical team, her journey was a testament to her bravery and relentless fight against the disease.
Beth is lovingly survived by her Mother, Kathleen Maggio; predeceased by her Father, Richard Maggio; Sister, Karen Woelfel (Patrick) and her children: Meaghan Bendure (Joe), Gretchen Weiss (Tom), and Patrick Jr. (Abby); Sister, Ellen Doenitz (Todd) and her children: Halle Doenitz (Jackie Berg), Amy Lilly (Ryan), Major Andrew Doenitz (Breanna),Courtney Doenitz and Charlie Doenitz; Sister, Lisa Maggio Golicher (Joe) and her children: Kallie Golicher and Molly Golicher; and Sister, Kristina Maggio. Each of these individuals held a special place in Beth’s heart.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us in celebrating Beth’s life on April 6th at 10:30 am at Saint Monica’s Catholic Church in Berwyn. In honor of Beth’s passion for helping others, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cancer Support Community of Greater Philadelphia (C.S.G.P), a cause close to her heart. Beth’s legacy of love, courage, and kindness will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched. Let us honor her memory by living our lives with the same tenacity and love she embodied every day.
