ELIZABETH C. (BETH) McCARRON was born on April 8, 1944, in Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital to George J. and Elizabeth (Betty) McBride McCarron. In her own words: “My Lord named me Elizabeth, and mom nicknamed me Beth. I came home to Springfield, where I have lived all my life. St Francis of Assisi has been my only parish.”
Beloved by all who knew her, she is survived by her sister Catherine (Kate) McCarron; brother-in-law Bernard A. McGinley, Jr.; nephew Michael (Sarah) McGinley and children Elle, Claire, and Finnian; niece Catherine (Andy) Buzbee and children, Jackson, Drew, and Michael; and her special buddy, Willard (her beloved Goldendoodle). Elizabeth was predeceased by sister Regina (Jean) A. McGinley.
Elizabeth graduated from St. Francis of Assisi school and Mater Misericordiae Academy in June 1962. She went to work for Verizon in June of 1962 and worked in Directory (Yellow Pages), ultimately retiring from Payroll in March 2008. Her memory was truly exceptional, and she delighted her family by effortlessly recalling any event in full detail–including its specific time, date, and even day of the week and what everyone was wearing.
Elizabeth loved to cook and garden. She had a love of all things University of Notre Dame. She particularly loved holidays. During Christmas Time, she found joy in being the Stocking Elf for her family, and on Easter, she loved to fill the baskets with candy. Her greatest joy was family and she loved to go on family vacations to Ocean City, NJ, Disney World, and cruises.
