Elizabeth V. “Vera” O'Reilly, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, has peacefully passed away on April 29, 2024. She was born in the picturesque town of Kill Cootehill, County Cavan, Ireland, to her late parents Thomas and Elizabeth Brady (nee McDonald). Vera developed a deep-rooted connection to her Irish heritage that would shape her life in profound ways.
Throughout her career as a hairdresser, Vera's skillful hands transformed not just hair but also hearts with her warm personality and genuine care for those around her. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Vera found true joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her memories are a testament to the rich tapestry of experiences she wove throughout her journey.
Vera was a member of St. Pius X Parish in Broomall, PA, where she found solace and community in her faith.
Vera's love for travel took her back to Ireland to visit cherished family members and friends, creating lasting bonds across oceans. She reveled in family vacations at the New Jersey and North Carolina beaches, where sunny days were spent making treasured memories with loved ones. The backyard pool was a place of laughter and relaxation for Vera, who found peace in the tranquility of those moments.
A regular at Perkins on Saturday evenings and a connoisseur of lunch dates with long-time friends, Vera's social spirit shone brightly in all aspects of her life. However, it was time spent with her family that truly brought out her radiant smile. Vera was immensely proud of her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.
In addition to being a dedicated member of the Cavan camogie team and Cavan bowling league, Vera danced the night away at Irish balls hosted by the Irish Center or Springfield Country Club. She was always singing along to Irish music, especially during the iconic Irish Hour at 11am on Sundays. Vera was also an avid Phillies fan and you could often find her watching or listening to their games whenever they played.
Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Sean P. O’Reilly; loving mother of Noreen Lyons (Jim) and Una Egan (Pat); adoring grandmother of Fiona Nunn (Kevin), Michala Lyons, Sinead Egan, Jake Lyons, Bridget Lupo (Nick), Maura Lyons, and Sean Egan; caring sister of Thomas Brady (Pauline) and Bridie Stubs (David), as well as sister-in-law’s Bridie Brady and Bridget Brady. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings, Greta Judge (John), John Joe Brady, Brendan Brady, and Helen Moran (Pat). The memories of Vera’s kind nature and infectious laughter will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew her.
