Elizabeth C. Smaltz, age 85, passed away September 8, 2023.
Beloved daughter of the late Harold and Charlotte (née Hughes) Smaltz.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, James Smaltz (Chrissy); grandchildren, Justin Weaver, James Smaltz, Brittany Martinez (Ryan), Jesse Smaltz; great-grandson, Ayden Smaltz; niece, Amy Knauss and her children Sara, Rachel, and Patrick; nephew, Jay Smaltz and his children Abey and Josh; god-daughter, Theresa Annette Bivens.
She was predeceased by her brother, John Smaltz.
Elizabeth was a beloved art teacher in the CASD for over 30 years. Her career started in the late 1960’s at James Adams Elementary School then moved to Terry Elementary before expanding to all elementary schools in Chester County. Most of her time was at Friendship Elementary School. Her artwork covered the hallways at Friendship. She also created the school mascot, The Friendship Dragon.
Elizabeth belonged to many clubs, including; The Red Hat Society, Coatesville Lions club, Parksburg Lions Club, Retired Coatesville Teachers Association, Chester County Astronomical Society, and her book club. She co-founded the “Art Goes To School” – retired teachers that go to elementary schools to introduce children to famous artists and their masterpieces. Elizabeth was the den leader for cub pack 36 in the 1980s.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2023 and to her Funeral Service 11:00 AM at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Ave, Coatesville, PA 19320.
