Elsie C. Oreski, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025 at the age of 81.
Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Fay (née Corl) Scherr. Elsie grew up in her hometown of Newtown Square, PA, where she enjoyed many lasting memories with her family and childhood friends.
A cherished member of her community, Elsie found fulfillment working as a Nurses Aid at Dunwoody Village. Her caring nature and commitment to helping others made a profound impact on both the residents she served and her colleagues as well.
Beyond her professional life, Elsie was a woman of many passions. She found joy in knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that often carried her love and warmth within their stitches. Elsie also cherished the moments spent travelling with her family, exploring new places and making memories that she would hold close to her heart. An avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, Elsie greatly enjoyed cheering on her home team with great enthusiasm. Later in her life, she developed a fondness for the music of Queen and Freddie Mercury, often finding solace and inspiration in their powerful melodies and lyrics
Elsie was the beloved wife of the late Michael G. Oreski; the loving mother of Michelle Oreski and Jeff Oreski (Linda). She was the caring and devoted grandmother of Madison, Ethan, Luke, Lila, and Rhiannon. She is also survived by her sisters, Sally Firth and Nancy McCaffery.
In celebration of Elsie's life and the legacy she leaves behind, family and friends are invited to gather for her Visitation on Thursday evening, April 10, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday morning, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, 352 S Gulph Road, King of Prussia, PA, where Elsie will rest in peace surrounded by the beauty of nature.
