Esther S. Rementer, 89, of West Chester, PA died in Chester County Hospital on April 2. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. on April 3, 1926, she was the 8th child of 14 born to Charles L. And Lillie S. Stackhouse. She married Edward W. Rementer Sr. on April 26, 1947 at Hope Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pa. A 1943 graduate of John Bartram High School, she then was employed at the Atlantic Refining Co. until 1950. The family moved to Denton, Md. in 1963 where Mr. Rementer was employed at Mulholland Harper Co. until his early retirement in 1971. He died on May 2, 1985.
They joined the Presbyterian Church of Easton, Md. where Mrs. Rementer became a member of the choir, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women's Association.
In 1967 she was employed by the Chesapeake Publishing Co. as the office manager of the Denton newspaper, The Times Record for 26 years, retiring in 1993.
Survivors include 2 sons Edward W. Rementer Jr. (and daughter-in-law Roberta Rementer Rutter) of Philadelphia and Robert P. Rementer (Debbie) of Harrington, De. and one daughter Dr. Barbara R. Hitchens (James ) of West Chester, Pa., seven grandchildren Alison Nieves (Miguel ) , Jessica Russell (Shawn ) , Kate Fleck (Dan), Jake Hitchens, Sarah Hitchens, Kristin Taylor, Kim Rementer/Betts, and 1 dear step-grandson Keats Gardner. There are seven great-grandchildren; Darlatia Nieves, Anthony and Daniel Russell, Allyson and Aubrey Taylor, Carson Betts and Henry Fleck.
Preceding her in death are seven brothers and 1 sister. Other survivors include brothers Rev. William Stackhouse (Joan ), Daniel Stackhouse (Sally ), and sisters Lillian Fitzpatrick, Elaine Lamond, and Joyce Newnam (Jack). She had many nieces and nephews.
Her family and church were very important to her. Memorial services will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Easton at 617 North Washington St. Easton,, Md. 21601 on April 15, at 1 pm. Burial at the convenience of the family will be held at the Arlington Cemetary in Drexel Hill, Pa.
