Ethel C. Melhuish

Ethel Mae Comfort Melhuish, 89, passed away February 15, 2023, in Newtown Square, PA. She grew up in Pine Bush, NY, was a long-time resident of Fayetteville, PA, and a retired registered nurse. Ethel was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Ernest Melhuish, and her siblings, Emmet Comfort (Ann Jean) of Anchorage, AK, and Evelyn Kempf (John) of Manahawkin, NJ. She was the daughter of the late William R., Jr., and Ina (Spears) Comfort of Hyde Park, NY. Ethel was a graduate of Pine Bush Central School and St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Newburgh, NY.

Ethel moved extensively during her life as she followed her husband throughout his early military and subsequent engineering careers, before retiring to Fayetteville. The couple even spent two years living in Algeria. She was an avid bridge player and made many friends through play.

Known lovingly as “MomMom” by her grandchildren, Ethel is survived by her children, Carol Maniscalco (Gordon) of Havertown, PA, and William Melhuish (Jeanette) of Des Moines, IA; her grandchildren, Seth Maniscalco of Youngstown, OH, and Laura Robinson of Ewa Beach, HI; and her great grandchildren, Kyle, Katelyn, Kaela and Kolton Maniscalco and Rosalynn and Jovian Robinson.

A virtual online memorial service will be held at the convenience of family. A private internment will be held at The Newburgh Woodlawn Cemetery in Newburgh, NY.
