Eugene "Gene" Francis Dunbar

Eugene “Gene” Francis Dunbar, 91, of Havertown, PA passed away on May 29, 2022.

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1930, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen (née Mahoney) Dunbar, Sr.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (née Monaghan) Dunbar; the loving father of Mary Wood (Bill), John Dunbar (Maria), Peter Dunbar, and Patricia Dunbar Smyth (Michael, Sr.). He was the proud grandfather of Jennifer Dunbar Walsh, Christina Dunbar Rodriguez, Anthony Dunbar, Nicole Smyth, and Michael Smyth Jr. and great-grandfather of 7 great-grandchildren. Gene was predeceased by his son, Eugene Dunbar Jr., and his siblings, Edward Dunbar, Jr. and Claire Dunbar Watson.

Gene served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned his Masters of Architecture Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and worked as the Director of Design Services for Medical Center of Delaware until 1995.

He loved painting, enjoyed traveling and fine dining.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing, Monday, June 6, 2022, 9:00-10:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300 followed by his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA  19008.  Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
